Your Global Home for Obesity Medicine
The International Society of Obesity is being built for clinicians and researchers who believe obesity deserves to be treated as the complex, chronic disease that it is — and who want to be part of the global effort to transform care.
ISO membership is free. There are no barriers to joining. We believe that the benefits of a global scientific community should be accessible to every clinician who is committed to advancing the field — regardless of where they practice or their career stage.
By joining ISO in this founding period, you are not just signing up for a newsletter. You are becoming a founding member of a new global institution — one that will shape the future of obesity medicine for decades to come.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is ISO membership really free?
Yes. Individual membership is offered on a fully complimentary basis for the first year from activation — with no credit card required and no automatic paid renewal. ISO follows the same model as GMHA and other leading global health alliances during the founding period.
Who is eligible for Individual Membership?
Any healthcare professional with a clinical or academic interest in obesity — including physicians, surgeons, dietitians, nurses, psychologists, pharmacists, researchers, and public health professionals — is eligible to join as an Individual Member.
What will happen after the complimentary period ends?
ISO will consult its membership before introducing any fees. Any future paid tier will always remain alongside a free access tier — ISO is committed to ensuring that no clinician is priced out of the global obesity medicine community.
Can I join if I am from a low- or middle-income country?
Absolutely — and we actively encourage it. ISO's founding mission includes ensuring equitable representation from LMICs. All ISO educational resources are designed to be accessible globally, including in low-bandwidth environments.
How does Institutional Membership work?
Institutional Members are hospitals, medical schools, research institutions, and national obesity or endocrine societies. Applications are reviewed by the ISO Secretariat. There is no fee during the founding period. Please write to us at info@isoobesity.org to apply.
How is ISO different from other obesity societies?
ISO is designed from the ground up to be truly global, genuinely multi-disciplinary, and fully independent. With particular emphasis on South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa — regions underrepresented in existing societies — and with IJCP Group's 500,000+ physician network as a founding infrastructure, ISO has an unmatched reach.
